The 3 Best Electric Vehicles to be launched in India – 2023

Electric Vehicles have seen tremendous growth in the last year. Seeing the same, more and more people are moving towards the adoption of electric vehicles. Certainly, it is not far that, EVs will be in the mainstream of mobility solutions. Looking at the current trend, many companies have invested heavily in the design, development, and manufacturing of EVs.

In India, many companies have already launched their EVs during the last year and some of them have plans to launch more in the year 2023. Companies like Tata Motors, MG (Morris Garages), Hyundai, and Mahindra are already in a race to launch their better and more affordable EVs in the market.

I have compiled a list of the three best electric vehicles, which are claimed to be released in 2023. They are the following.

BMW i7

BMW India has plans to release the i7 electric sedan in January 2023. It is a luxury electric sedan car, which will be the next generation of the BMW 7 series.

As per the company’s official website, the BMW i7 EV is claimed to have a range of 318 miles (approximately 513 km) on a single charge of battery.

The car can go from 0 to 60 miles in 4.5 seconds and has 536 hp as its Maximum Horsepower.

This EV also supports DC fast charging, which is claimed to run up to 90 miles in 10 minutes of DC fast charging. The EV variant of i7 is expected to be of price Rs 2.50 Cr.

Hyundai Ioniq 5

Hyundai Ioniq 5 EV has already won three awards World Car Of The Year, World Electric Vehicle Of The Year, and World Car Design Of The Year.

Looking at the same, the EV seems very promising in changing people’s perception of EVs.

As per Hyundai’s official website, it supports the ultra-fast battery charging feature and comes with a 350 kW DC charger. With this charger, just in 18 minutes of time, battery charging goes from 10 percent to 80 percent.

The company also claims that the EV can go for a run of 100 km in only five minutes of charging as per the WLTP (Worldwide Harmonised Light Vehicle Test Procedure) Cycle.

Ioniq 5 EV is available in two battery versions, one is Long Range battery and another is a Standard Range battery. In the Long Range battery version, the EV is equipped with a 72.6 kW battery. In the Standard Range battery version, the EV is equipped with a 58 kB battery.

Ioniq 5 is claimed to go from 0 to 100 km/h in 5.2 seconds with all-wheel drive mode and has a maximum speed of 185 km/h.

It delivers a range of 481 km on a single charge with rear-wheel drive and a long-range battery. Ioniq 5 EV is expected to be priced between 45 lakhs to 55 lakhs.

Mahindra XUV400

Mahindra has joined the league of unveiling its EV, that is XUV400 on World EV Day 2022.

XUV400 EV is expected to be launched in the month of January 2023.

Considering the estimated price of 17 lakhs, I am sure this EV is going to attract many Indian consumers. It will be in the economic range of EV XUV price.

As per Mahinda’s official Press Release. It will be the first Indian make passenger vehicle with the fastest acceleration.

This car comes under the non-luxury segment and is claimed to go from 0 to 100 km in just 8.3 seconds with a top speed of 150 km.

As per IDC (Indian Driving Cycle), the Mahindra XUV400 EV delivers a range of 456 km on a single charge of battery.

The car is equipped with a 39.4 kWh Li-ion battery pack. The company claims that the battery gets charged to 80% in just 50 minutes of time with a 50 kW DC fast charger.

Final Words

Mahindra and Hyundai have already a very good economic consumer base for automobiles in India. It will be indeed exciting to see the on-road reviews of EVs by the customers.

Mahindra is addressing the gap of price gap by launching their EVs in the economic price range, whereas Hyundai and BMW are focusing on the luxury segment of EVs.

However, BMW is already famous for its luxury cars in India.
