Project Trinity by Volkswagen – A Little-Known Future Electric Car

As the world is moving its focus from fossil fuel-powered vehicles to electrically powered vehicles, many automakers have already changed their direction for future mobility. Since the start of the decade, electric cars are getting popular and trending around the world. No doubt, there are challenges, but automakers are pacing up to solve those challenges. To solve the challenge and provide new standards for electric cars, Volkswagen had already launched Project Trinity, which is a very little-known future electric car currently.

What is Project Trinity by Volkswagen?

Trinity project is dedicated to designing and developing a revolutionary electric car with a very high travel range and extremely short battery charging time.

The german carmaker is intending to develop a sedan electric car with the project and expects that, it would be a revolutionary product in the electric car segment.

The First Sketch of the Trinity Project

The company also shared that the project Trinity will be setting high standards of digitalization, which will be reaching Level 4 in automated driving technology.

Level 4 in automated driving refers to the fact that the electric car will be able to perform all the driving-related functions on its own, under particular circumstances. With it, the driver would be having the option to control the driving at any time.

When will Volkswagen launch Project Trinity?

As per the company’s official press release, the project trinity was first press released in the middle of 2021. It is expected to be launched in 2026, but there is no update by Volkswagen after the first press release. Most likely, it would be till the end of the decade.

Why did the project was named Trinity?

Volkswagen named the project Trinity as per the Latin word “Trinitas”. “Trinitas” refers to the three important factors, that is, a recently developed electronics system considering the state-of-art software, completely linked with production intelligence, and making the product supply chain structure as simplified as possible.

What is the expectation of Volkswagen with Project Trinity?

The CEO of Volkswagen told about the Trinity Project as the software dream car and a lighthouse project for the company. The german carmaker has very high expectations with the project in terms of travel range and battery charging speed.

The company is planning to produce future vehicles like Trinity in very few variants. The hardware part of the electric car will be made standardized.

The electric car will be equipped with all digital ecosystems, and the customer will be able to use any functionality through the onboard digital systems. As the hardware will be standardized, the production complexity will be reduced to a very high extent.

Final Words

Volkswagen has very high expectations from the Trinity project.

From the currently limited information, it is considered that the project will be setting very high standards in electric cars and a great milestone for the company. But there are no future updates on the project since its first press release news in 2021.

From the official website, it is assumed to be launched by 2026, but seeing the reviews of the project, it can be further delayed and expected to be launched by the end of the decade.
