  • Ford is recalling F-150 vehicles for potential issues with Electric Parking Brakes in the US.
  • NHTSA issued the recall on Twitter to avoid the unintended crash.
  • Ford will be fixing it starting from September 11th – 2023.

Recently, Ford Motors issued a notice to recall its F-150 Electric SUVs for a potential malfunction in the Electric Parking brake in the US. F-150 owners can experience wiring-related issues in the electric SUV.

The safety recall is tweeted by NHTSA – National Highway Traffic Safety Administration. In their report, the carmaker revealed that the potential issue is because of wiring contact between the rear axle wiring harness bundle and rear axle housing in the affected electric vehicles. It can result in the false activation of the electric parking brakes.

As per NHTSA, Malfunctioning of the electric parking brake may lead to the brake application of the car suddenly, which can potentially result in losing control of the vehicle and might risk crashing the vehicle.

Which F-150 Vehicles are impacted?

Ford Motor has recalled the vehicles, which are manufactured during the past three years, from the year 2021 to 2023, which have single exhaust systems.

The issue of the malfunctioning of the electric parking brake came to light when the automaker’s CCRG – Critical Concern Review Group investigated a report, where the customer was facing an unintended parking brake application on an F-150 vehicle, which was a 2021 year model.

The investigation report revealed that it was due to damaged electric parking brake circuits.

Ford has encountered three field reports for this condition and has a total of 918 warranty in North America, that was received from August 2021 to July 2023.

Unfortunately, Ford F-150 is facing malfunction in the vehicles, but seeing Ford’s actions against the issue will help the customers to get a sense of relief in the United States. I am hopeful that, Ford will be further investigating it reach to its root cause.
