Federal Aviation Administration has issued a Special Airworthiness Certification to the Alef Aeronautics company. With this certification, the company would be allowed to test the electric car on the road and in the air. The news broke out when Alef officials shared this information in its news release.
Alef has already started the preorder of its flying electric car on its official website. If you like it, you can preorder it either in General Queue with a $150 amount or Priority Queue with a $1500 amount. The cost of Alef’s fully electric flying car is expected to be $2,99,999 – which is almost 3 lakh dollars.
Alef Aeronautics also disclosed that the company has received a strong number of preorders from businesses and people across the United States.
Alef Aeronautics is an electric automobile and aviation company, that is based out of San Mateo – California – US, since the year 2015. The company is backed by solid Tesla investors, and it is promised that they will be launching flying electric cars by the year 2025.

FAA officials revealed during the talks with Fox Business that, they issued a Special Airworthiness Certificate for the Alef Fully Electric Flying Car – Model Zero on June 12th – 2023. With this certificate, Alef Aeronautics is allowed to use the electric car for limited purposes, which include research, development, and exhibitions.
FAA spokesperson also added that this is not the first aircraft of its kind and FAA has issued the same certificate for other similar aircraft as well.
As per Alef’s official website, the fully electric flying car is certified in the Low-Speed vehicle category, which reveals that the car won’t be faster than 25 miles per hour – 40 km per hour – on public roads. With that, for faster travel, the car needs to be used in flight mode.
The flying electric car would be able to provide seating for two people.
As per Alef’s official website, the flying electric car would be capable of launching vertically in the air with a flying range of 110 miles and it is also capable to deliver 200 miles of driving range on public roads.
