In the past, Nissan had shared their vision to invest half a billion dollars in their Canton Vehicle Assembly Plant to produce electric vehicle models for Nissan and Infiniti, which is being followed with the news of a few more details about their plans.
What is the current situation at Carton Assembly Plant and Nissan’s plans?
Currently, the Canton Assembly Plant produces IC engine cars at half of its full capacity. though it can produce 4,10,000 cars yearly. As per Nissan’s production plans, they will be producing two different electric sedan models and two different crossover models. The electric sedan models are expected to be launched in the year 2026 and then, the automaker will be launching crossover models by the year 2028.
What are the available details of timelines and models by Nissan?
Previously, Nissan had shared its plan for the rebuilding of the Canton plant in February 2025, which revealed that the automaker’s first two electric vehicle models for Nissan and Infiniti, production will be started in 2025.

The elective report says that Nissan company is also planning to invest 250 million dollars in their Decherd plant, which is based in Tennessee. The plan is to increase electric motor production in the United States.
The company is planning to launch 23 electric cars worldwide in the coming years, with the vision of boosting the electrification of cars under the strategy of “Ambition 2030”. The carmaker is targeting to increase the sale of electric cars so that, in the United States, electric car sales would be 40 percent of total automotive sales.
Possible Platform in Nissan Electric Car Models
The carmaker has not revealed the information about the platform, that will be used in the production of new electric models. So, it is expected that it will be similar to Nissan’s latest electric car model – Ariya. Ariya electric car is being delivered to customers in the United States since the end of the year 2022.
Nissan has delivered a total of 5,195 crossover models in the first two quarters of 2023, which is based on the Alliance CMG-EV platform.
